Writing is a powerful medium for self-reflection and embedding learning in your work as a coach or coach supervisor. But how confident are you about how to best maximise the tools and techniques of therapeutic and reflective writing as a means of self-supervision and for supporting the work you engage with your clients?

This group is a brand new supervision group introducing different methods for using reflective writing as a primary source for self-reflection, generating insights and new perspectives of your coaching or supervision practice.

JH Profile July2016Great coaching and supervision emerges as much from curiosity, observation and critical and creative self-reflection. It emerges from the important and valuable work we do with ourselves that creates conscious space to examine and mine your current approaches and to use writing to look afresh at your work, uncover limiting and sabotaging patterns and discover new perspectives and ways of working and being.

This is a dynamic and interactive approach, which is as much about building and growing this approach in your own practice, and embedding ways of measuring the impact of using reflective writing with your clients in-between the sessions.

The group schedule includes live writing sessions as well as space to bring a supervision practice issue to the session. The group will develop and deepen your knowledge and access to a range of reflective writing techniques that can be integrated into your work as a coach supervisor.

How coaches and coach supervisors will benefit from the writing supervision group?

  • Grow and strengthen your coaching and supervision practice through deepening your understanding of the benefits of applying a range of reflective writing approaches into your coaching and supervision.
  • Develop a robust and reflexive approach to your personal and continuing professional development through expressive and reflective writing.
  • Learn about and become familiar with the growing body of research studies that confirm the wide range of psychological, physical and cognitive benefits, which supports the therapeutic application of reflective and expressive writing.
  • Develop the skills and the knowledge that will grow your confidence and competence as a writer.
  • Work wholeheartedly with a small group of like-minded practitioners who will offer compassionate feedback and insights through a reflective writing supervision process.
  • Have fun trying out a range of creative writing activities and seeing the impact these practices have on you and your coaching/supervision.
  • The writing supervision practice group will be supported with research findings, handouts and on-line resources.

The writing supervision group meets five times a year online (giving greater flexibility) and is limited to six participants per supervision group.

It is a reflexive process, which will include agreed pre-work and pre-reading prior to each virtual session. Our work together includes protected time for a supervision cases using reflective writing to explore the presenting issues 9am -12am UK times.
